Loving God, Following Christ, Serving Others

About Our School

Our school is one of the many outreach ministries of Conyers First Methodist. We strive to offer the community a program that encompasses the highest standards in early childhood education within a Christian environment of love and support.

There are three main priorities we strive to emphasize each day here at CFM Preschool.

1. SAFETY

We know how difficult it can be when a child goes to school. We work hard to ease the minds of both parent and child by going to great lengths to ensure safety here at our school. In order to guarantee the safety of each child, we take particular care in all that we do and ask for the support of each family to help ensure our success.

2. LOVE

We absolutely love what we do and we absolutely love each child. We strive to make sure that each child knows that they are loved unconditionally by their families, our staff here at CFM Preschool, and most importantly, by God.

3. UNRECOGNIZED LEARNING

We want each child to learn without realizing they are learning. We never want learning to be a stress for a child, but instead something they enjoy doing. With this said, we work hard to make learning fun and intriguing for each child. We strive to create the best learning environment possible for each of our students.

Our Approach

We believe each child learns best in an environment that is rich in hands on experiences. Children are encouraged to use their senses to explore, experiment, and use their imagination to the fullest. Through dramatic play, manipulatives, and the use of centers within the classroom that emphasize art, science, math, and literacy, children gain readiness skills for future learning.

Language Development and Reading Readiness
Children learn through stories, rhymes, conversation, drama, and expression of their own ideas while building skills necessary for reading and writing. Teachers read stories relevant to what the class is presently learning. Children share stories and express their opinions. They learn about letters and the sounds they make.

Social Interaction
Teachers stress cooperation, following directions, manners, sharing, negotiating, and respect for self and others. Children are given the opportunity to use their imagination to the fullest while playing with their peers.

Fine/Gross Motor Skills
Children practice their fine motor skills through working with puzzles, finger plays, painting, and writing. They use their large muscles when they run and climb outside. They are encouraged to feel good about their bodies when they run, jump, and play.

Emotional Development
CFM Preschool provides an atmosphere where children can feel comfortable as they develop a sense of trust and love. We encourage the development of a positive self-image and self-confidence.

Additional Learning Experience
We believe that children benefit from learning experiences outside of the normal classroom. Children at CFM Preschool attend weekly music and Spanish classes, along with weekly trips to the school library. They also attend Chapel two times each month, which is conducted by the CFM Children's Minister, Stanley Davidson. Occasional off-site field trips also offer additional learning experiences, along with special visits from guests such as the local firemen and their big, red, fire truck. Children also have the chance to learn through technology by frequently using computers for various activities.
