Dear Conyers First Church Family,
Theresa and I have truly been touched by the gracious acts of love and hospitality by so many of you this week as we made our move from Alpharetta to Conyers. You have made us feel at home and at ease. It is truly a joy to be appointed and given the privilege to serve as your Senior Minister.
Dr. John Beyers is a good friend and a person I very much admire. It is obvious that the church thrived under his leadership and I know you all will miss him. As I come to you my prayer is not to take John’s place but to allow God to use me in whatever way the Spirit leads and that by God’s grace, Conyers First will continue to be a caring, healing and welcoming community who proclaim and celebrate the love of Jesus Christ, live as God’s servants and seek justice for all people.
Grace and Peace,
EVERYONE INVITED- MEET OUR NEW SENIOR MINISTER!
WELCOME RECEPTION FOR DR. DAVE BENSON, SUNDAY, JUNE 22: CFUMC Staff-Parish Relations Committee and staff invite you to join us after the 11:00 am service for a reception welcoming Dr. Dave Benson and his family in the Fellowship Hall on Sunday, June 22.
Dr. Dave Benson is a native of Georgia and has lived most of his life in the metro-Atlanta area. After graduating from college with a degree in Music, he spent a few years as a musical instrument sales rep before entering full-time youth ministry. In 1993, Dave answered the call to ordained ministry and attended seminary at Candler School of Theology where he received a Masters of Divinity. He later received a Doctor of Ministry from Drew Theological School. Dave served several churches in North Georgia including Roswell UMC and Kingswood UMC in Dunwoody and Birmingham UMC in Alpharetta. He is married to Theresa and they have two grown children, Chris and Anna.
Birthplace: Crawford Long Hospital in Atlanta, GA.
When I'm not at church or with my family, I enjoy...reading, watching movies, playing guitar, hiking on the Appalachian Trail.
